busy...

This has been a busy week and I haven't had time to sit down at my computer until now. All of you will be happy to know that my computer is now up and running much faster than ever before. The wipe and reload was a little more difficult than anticipated but I'm back in business!

Last Saturday we went down to Dallas for a fun-filled day of shopping and basketball. Can it get any better than that? We went to IKEA, Sam Moon (Where I got myself a new purse!!! Purses are my weakness), and the Galleria. We were so busy going places that we forgot to eat. So we had to stop at the little pizza place inside the Galleria and grab a slice. It wasn't our favorite but we thought we might be sick if we didn't get some food in our stomachs right away. After that we headed down to the American Airlines Arena to watch the Dallas Mavericks take on the Seattle Supersonics. I was interested to see the game since there's a chance the supersonics could be coming to OKC. But...I discovered that the supersonics super suck! It was kind of a boring game and of course the Mavericks won but we had a lot of fun. I took some pics of the arena and never thought to turn the camera around and get a picture of us as well. haha. These were taken well before the game started as we got there early. The place was packed during the game.

This past thursday I was lucky enough to attend a cooking demonstration featuring celebrity chef Curtis Stone. If you don't know who he is watch TLC's Take Home Chef. He was really funny and made a pot of Zuppa Ribolata which is lentil soup with vegetables. It was fantastic! This was definitely the highlight of my day.

Technological Idiot

I’m not stupid. I like to learn new things and I catch on quickly. I also like to enjoy the luxuries and conveniences that are made available to us today. This is why I decided to start looking into getting myself an iPod or something similar to it. I informed Jason of this before Christmas and he started looking around online at all my options. I happily let him do that for me as I wasn’t really interested in the research process.

Well, Christmas came around and to my surprise Jason gave me an MP3 player. I was thrilled and couldn’t wait to use it. It did everything I wanted it to and actually seemed easy to use. He showed me exactly how it worked and I spent an evening filling it with music. The next day I decided to put some more cd’s on there and did it exactly as I had learned how.

Have I told you about my theory that I have a magnetic aura surrounding my body that makes computers and other electronics stop working? Well I believe I have now proven this theory to be true. Somehow the files I loaded on the second day became corrupted and can’t be used or deleted. I broke it!!! It was my favorite gift and now it doesn’t work. I feel horrible.

One of my other Christmas gifts was a webcam. My brother and sister-in-law gave it to me so I can send video emails to my nephew and niece. It’s a great idea and I’m very excited since I only get up there to visit about once a year. So I had Jason come over to install it on my computer the other day. Well, we ran into a problem. My computer is running so slowly that a webcam wouldn’t work so well. He looked around and tried to make it run faster but apparently there’s a bunch of crap that I don’t even know where it came from. We deleted a ton of stuff and still not much progress. I believe his exact words were, “Krista, I have no idea what you’ve done to this computer.” So our fun project for the weekend we will be wiping my computer and starting over.

Ugh! I don’t know how these things happen to me. From now on please keep all computers and electronics out of my reach!

say hello to Penny!

She is the newest addition to my family. How cute is my new niece? She's super chubby and adorable! She didn't come last week when I was in Portland like I asked so I'll have to settle for seeing her through pictures. But I'm glad she's here and I can't wait to meet her.

Here's to old friends!

My good friend Tabitha emailed me some pictures of our adventures in Portland this past weekend so I thought I'd share a few of them. Last friday evening Stephanie, Rachel, Tabitha, Lisa and I went down to Hawthorne street and ate at this great little place called Bread and Ink Cafe. Then we walked around a bit and eventually made it to Ben & Jerry's for dessert before heading back to Steph's house and chatting all night. Who doesn't love ice cream in the middle of winter when you're bundled up in a scarf, hat and gloves?? It's the best!

These girls are my good friends from high school. We were inseparable then and, amazingly enough, we still keep in touch and get together whenever I'm back in town. I'm the only one of us who doesn't live up in that area. It was great to get together with everyone sans husbands/boyfriends and children. Not that I don't love seeing them too but there's just nothing like hanging out with the girls. I couldn't ask for better friends!
